About & Submission Policy

What Quire34 is

Quire34 is a free web directory arranged like a periodical: 833 working websites filed across 22 editorial sections, reviewed and indexed by a small staff rather than by algorithm. It is run in the tradition of a reference annual — entries are considered individually, placed in the section that fits, and left in the record until a reason emerges to remove them.

How it is organised

The directory is divided into 22 sections covering fields from dentistry and finance to travel, technology, and the open-ended Miscellany & Notes column. Every site in the index belongs to exactly one section. Within each section, entries are listed without further ranking — no popularity weighting, no sponsored placement, no advertiser priority.

Who may submit

Any working website may be submitted for consideration. Submission is free, and there is no fee to appear in the directory. After submission, an editor reviews the site and places it in the appropriate section. The process is straightforward and takes no special credentials on the part of the submitter.

What the editorial review involves

Each submission is read by a member of Quire34 staff. The review is not exhaustive — it does not rate quality, audit claims, or assess commercial viability. It confirms that the submitted site is reachable, contains meaningful content, and fits within one of the directory's existing sections. Sites that meet this standard are entered; those that do not are set aside.

A note on scope

Quire34 indexes the web as it finds it. Some sections — Chance & Fortune, Documents & Registry — contain sites operating in areas that carry their own risks for the reader. The directory notes these sections without endorsing the services within them. Readers are encouraged to apply independent judgment before engaging with any listed provider, as they would when using any reference index.
